Tenotomy

A tenotomy is a soft tissue procedure used to correct flexible hammertoes. A hammer toe occurs when there is an imbalance between two opposing muscle groups. This imbalance will cause the toe to “buckle” under the strain. For this procedure to be successful the joints in question must be flexible (i.e. the joint must be movable). A tenotomy is a minimally invasive surgery that can be performed comfortably in office. The procedure does not require any time off work and the patient is able to ambulate immediately.
